Terra Landscape Collections creates thoughtfully designed outdoor spaces that feel like a natural extension of the home.

Founded by Cal Poly landscape architecture graduates Joel and Devon Brown, Terra brings professional landscape design into a more approachable and streamlined process for Central California homeowners and builders.

For us, a landscape isn’t something that should simply be added around a house after construction is complete. The architecture of the home, the interior style, the surrounding neighborhood, and the way a family actually lives should all influence what happens outside.

That philosophy is at the heart of Terra Landscape Collections.

Landscape Design That Starts With the Home

Every home has its own character.

A contemporary home may call for clean lines, architectural planting, structured outdoor spaces, and carefully selected materials. A Mediterranean-inspired property might feel more natural surrounded by olive trees, citrus, lavender, stone, textured walls, and inviting gathering spaces.

An established Central Valley home may already have mature trees and landscape features worth preserving. A newly constructed home may offer an almost blank canvas.

The goal isn’t to force the same landscape onto every property.

It’s to create an outdoor environment that belongs there.

Terra’s landscape collections provide homeowners with a clear design direction while still allowing the landscape to respond to the architecture, property, and lifestyle of the people who live there.

Designed for Central Valley Living

Terra Landscape Collections was created here in California’s Central Valley.

Joel and Devon both have roots in the region and returned after studying landscape architecture at Cal Poly with the goal of bringing thoughtful, professionally designed outdoor spaces back to the communities they know.

That local connection matters.

Homes in Visalia, Tulare, Porterville, Hanford, Lemoore, Fresno, and the surrounding communities don’t all look the same, and neither should their landscapes.

From established neighborhoods and custom homes to new residential developments, Terra designs spaces around the character of the property and the way Central California families use their homes.

Outdoor Spaces Made for Living

A well-designed landscape should give people reasons to go outside.

That might mean creating a comfortable patio for everyday dinners, an outdoor kitchen for entertaining, a pool environment where family and friends can gather, a fire feature for evenings outside, or simply a quiet garden area that feels connected to the house.

Trees, planting, pathways, hardscape, lighting, patios, gathering areas, and outdoor structures work best when they’re considered together rather than installed as unrelated pieces.

The result is an outdoor environment that feels intentional from the beginning.

The Terra Landscape Collections

Terra’s landscape collections make it easier for homeowners to establish a cohesive design direction for their property.

The Olive

Inspired by Mediterranean landscapes, The Olive brings together relaxed planting, timeless materials, and the warmth of landscapes influenced by California and the Mediterranean.

Olive trees, citrus, herbs, flowering plants, textured materials, and inviting outdoor spaces can create an environment that feels established, comfortable, and connected to the home.

The Agave

The Agave takes a more architectural approach.

Strong plant forms, clean lines, intentional spacing, contemporary materials, and carefully composed outdoor spaces create a landscape with a bold modern identity.

It’s particularly well suited to homeowners who appreciate simplicity, structure, and landscapes where every element has a purpose.

The Willow

The Willow offers a clean contemporary direction with an emphasis on balance, greenery, outdoor living, and polished architectural details.

It can work particularly well with newer homes where the landscape has an opportunity to complement the architecture from the beginning.

A Natural Fit for New Construction

One of the most exciting times to think about landscape design is when purchasing a new home.

The house may be finished, but the outdoor environment is often just beginning.

Instead of adding a patio one year, trees the next, an outdoor kitchen later, and eventually realizing there isn’t an ideal location for a pool or shade structure, homeowners can begin with a complete vision.

Where will people gather?

Where should trees eventually provide privacy?

How should the outdoor kitchen connect with the indoor kitchen?

Is a pool part of the long-term plan?

Where should children or pets have open space?

What should you see when looking through the windows from inside the house?

Thinking about those relationships early can turn a new-construction backyard into an outdoor environment that feels much more custom.

Terra works with homeowners and builders throughout Central California to bring that kind of planning into new residential properties and communities.

Rooted in Landscape Architecture

Terra Landscape Collections is led by husband-and-wife team Joel and Devon Brown, both graduates of Cal Poly’s landscape architecture program.

Devon’s design background includes a strong interest in contemporary landscapes, native planting palettes, architecture, and Mediterranean design influences developed while studying abroad in Italy.

Joel brings his own Central Valley roots together with a strong focus on craftsmanship, detail, construction, and the quality of the finished landscape.

Together, that combination of design and construction experience allows Terra to think beyond individual landscape features and consider the entire property.

Landscape Design Across Tulare County

Tulare County isn’t one uniform landscape.

The neighborhoods, architecture, surroundings, and outdoor lifestyle can change considerably as you travel from the Valley floor toward the Sierra Nevada foothills.

That’s why Terra is developing a growing collection of local landscape resources for communities throughout the county.

Visalia Landscape Design

Visalia combines established tree-lined neighborhoods, newer residential development, custom homes, and an increasingly active outdoor-living culture.

Terra’s Visalia landscape resources explore how homeowners can create outdoor environments that respond to the architecture and character of their individual properties.

Porterville Landscape Design

Porterville has a very different story.

Located near the eastern edge of the San Joaquin Valley, Porterville sits close to the Tule River, Lake Success, and the Sierra Nevada foothills.

Its landscape character is influenced by citrus and agriculture, established neighborhoods, older homes, outdoor recreation, and newer residential communities including Laurelwood, Brookside, and Villas at Sierra Meadows.

For homeowners purchasing new construction, these communities also present an opportunity to think about the entire outdoor environment before years of separate landscape additions accumulate.

Visalia and Porterville are only part of the story.

Terra’s Tulare County Landscaping Guide explores landscape design and outdoor living throughout Visalia, Tulare, Porterville, Dinuba, Exeter, Lindsay, Springville, Three Rivers, and surrounding communities.

Rather than treating these as interchangeable Central Valley cities, the guide looks at what makes each area different, including neighborhoods, new housing, architecture, agriculture, foothill environments, outdoor recreation, and the way those influences can shape residential landscapes.

From Visalia and Tulare to Communities Across Central California

Terra Landscape Collections serves homeowners and builders throughout Visalia, Tulare, Porterville, Hanford, Lemoore, Fresno, and surrounding Central California communities.

As Terra’s project portfolio continues to grow, these local resources will also begin connecting homeowners with real landscape projects, galleries, and outdoor spaces completed throughout the region.

That means someone researching landscape ideas in Porterville or Visalia won’t only find general design advice.

They’ll increasingly be able to see actual Terra projects from communities near them.

Start With a Landscape That Feels Like Home

A beautiful landscape isn’t defined by how many features can be placed into a backyard.

It’s about how everything works together.

The house.

The architecture.

The plants.

The materials.

The outdoor living spaces.

And most importantly, the people who will actually use them.

That’s the idea behind Terra Landscape Collections.

Create an outdoor environment that feels considered, comfortable, and connected to the home from the very beginning.
